Mitsuru Izumo, President and CEO of Euglena Co., Ltd., has been confirmed to deliver the keynote address

It has been confirmed that Mitsuru Izumo, President and CEO of euglena Co., Ltd., will deliver the keynote address at the National Knowledge-Based Manufacturing Conference 2024, to be held by Lifeness on Friday, April 12, 2024.

<Summary of Lecture

In 2005, euglena became the first company in the world to successfully achieve large-scale outdoor cultivation of euglena for human consumption—a feat previously deemed absolutely impossible—and has since been advancing the industrial application of euglena as a business. Furthermore, on December 3, 2014, it became the first venture company spun off from the University of Tokyo to be listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. The keynote speech, titled “Venture Companies and SMEs That Have Shifted to Knowledge-Based Manufacturing Will Change the World of the Future,” will discuss the collaboration with mid-sized and small-to-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that have supported Euglena behind the scenes, as well as the future growth and advancement of these mid-sized and SMEs.

Mitsuru Izumo (President and CEO of Euglena Co., Ltd.; Vice Chair of the Council of Advisors of the Japan Business Federation)
After graduating from Komaba Toho Junior and Senior High School and the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Tokyo, he joined the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi in 2002. In 2005, he founded euglena Co., Ltd. and assumed the position of President and CEO. In December of that same year, he succeeded in the world’s first large-scale outdoor cultivation of the microalgae Euglena (scientific name: Euglena) for human consumption. He was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum (Davos Conference) and received the “Prime Minister’s Award” at the first Japan Venture Awards. He serves as Vice Chair of the Advisory Council of the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren). He is the author of *I Have Decided to Save the World with Euglena* (Shogakukan Shinsho).
