Lifeness Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo; Representative Director and Group CEO: Yukihiro Maru) will host the National Knowledge-Based Manufacturing Conference 2024 on Friday, April 12, 2024. As part of the keynote session, Mr. Motoki Ozawa, Director of the Industry Department at the Kanto Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry, will deliver a presentation titled “The Value Creation Challenge Program and the Future Direction of SME Policy (Growth Support).”

In order to revitalize Japan, it is important to focus not only on large corporations and startups, but also on the regional mid-sized and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that account for 99.7% of all Japanese companies, and to support their growth from SMEs to mid-sized enterprises and ultimately to large corporations. While taking a broad view of initiatives to foster the growth of mid-sized and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), collaboration with startups has recently garnered significant attention as a method for these companies to take the lead in driving innovation. In this session, we will discuss initiatives for mid-sized and small and medium-sized enterprises to forge partnerships with startups, as well as the appropriate approach to supporting their growth as part of national policy.
